What is DRESS?

DRESS is an eveningwear rental boutique for women, in the Bay Area. We specialize in evening gowns and cocktail dress for all occasions.

How long can I rent a dress?

Dress rentals are for 3-days. Dresses are due back to the store by close of business on day three. 5-day and 7-day rentals are available by request.

Can I reserve a dress in advance?

Of course! Once you decide on the perfect dress for your occasion, we will reserve the item, along with a 50% deposit. This deposit is applied to your balance once you pick up the dress. If you need to cancel we require 24 hour notice or you’ll lose your deposit.

What sizes do you carry?

We currently carry size 0-14.

What kind of brands do you carry?

Our selection of dresses is on par with what you would find at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus and Saks 5th Avenue along with a few choice vintage finds.  We carry brands such as Marchesa, Vera Wang, Aidan Mattox, Nicole Miller to name a few.

What is included in my rental fee?

The rental fee covers 3 rental days plus dry-cleaning.

Can I alter my dress?

Dresses cannot be altered. We have an amazing selection and are confident we can find the perfect dress that will work for you!

What happens if I return my dress late?

A $40, per day, late fee will be applied if your dress is returned after the agreed upon rental deadline.

Once I’m done with it, how do I return my dress?

Just tuck your dress back in the garment bag provided and return it during DRESS business hours.

Why borrow instead of purchase?

Who doesn’t enjoy getting more while paying less? Not only does DRESS provide women with convenience and savings, it’s also a very eco-friendly concept – fancy dress recycling!

What else can I get at DRESS?

Currently, our primary focus is on providing beautiful evening and cocktail dresses. We also carry a wonderful selection of shapewear, evening bags, jewelry and pashminas to ensure you look your very best.

Are these new items? What condition are they in?

The majority of our dresses are brand new along with some fantastic one-of-a-kind vintage pieces. We pride ourselves on having beautiful gowns that are all in pristine condition. No dress is offered for rent that is not up to our extremely high standards.

What if the dress I’m renting becomes dirty or damaged?

We understand “little” things happen (Oops! Someone stepped on your dress!), as such we consider these “little” things part of the rental business. However, we reserve the right to determine if a dress is damaged beyond repair and in these cases will charge 80% of the original retail price.

What happens if I fall in love with a dress and want to keep it? Can I buy it?

DRESS will hold 2 blowout sales a year to clear our inventory and make room for new gowns and cocktail dresses. If you love a dress please contact us and we will send a note to let you know as soon as it’s available for sale.

How much does the average dress rental cost?

Our dresses are very reasonably priced. On average, you can expect to pay anywhere from around $65 to $400+ for a 3-day rental depending on the dress. Far less than you’d typically pay for high-end evening wear.

What about deals for weddings?

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials! We love a wedding so if your bridal party rents their dresses from us we’re happy to give them each a 10% discount on the entire cost of their rental.
